Winding Down with Ariane Goldman, CEO and Founder of HATCH

We caught up with Ariane Goldman, Founder and CEO of HATCH about how she left the corporate game to forge her own path, creating a cool and modern maternity fashion line.

What led you to fashion design having worked for American Express and what inspired you to run after what really interested you? 

I started my career climbing up the corporate ladder at AmEx, having about four to five different jobs over the years and finding myself managing more and more people. But I wasn’t using my creative juices in a way that inspired me and I quickly realized that it wasn’t my calling. When I had the idea to launch twobirds New York, that’s when I took the leap because I believed in the concept and the idea that I could actually do it. 

Having noticed a void in the maternity market, how did you aim to fill it? 

When I was pregnant with my first daughter, I couldn’t find cool, stylish, timeless maternity pieces I could invest in that made me feel awesome, empowered and the most like myself. I aimed to fill that void with a few styles that women could wear before, during and after their pregnancies - pieces that could transition with them and that they could still love and wear way after baby. So that was the premise then, and many, many collections and styles later, it remains to this day.

What was it like when you were first pregnant (before launching HATCH) and how does it compare to now, knowing you have created cool and contemporary looks for women who are going through their first pregnancy? 

When I was pregnant, no one in the marketplace was speaking to me as a pregnant woman who was going through all of these changes physically and emotionally. I think today, we’re offering pregnant women a sense of empowerment, confidence and style, not only through our timeless wardrobe essentials and mama-safe beauty products, but through our support system, our network and our community that has her back throughout her entire journey and beyond. 

How does style and the products you launched for HATCH Mama help a woman feel confident during such a time of change? 

I think HATCH helps women feel confident by simply letting them know they aren’t alone. We’re here to support them through every step of this journey. I also think an amazing, bump-friendly slip dress, a cozy cashmere onesie and a clean, safe, luxurious belly oil they can use during their self-care routine can go a long way in feeling beautiful, sexy and confident. We want women to flaunt their gorgeously changing body in clothing that makes them feel beautiful and with skincare that makes them feel incredible.

What do you do to Wind down after a long work week? Do you have any rituals?

I love a martini with a girlfriend. I love heading out to our family’s beach house. A great Saturday is all of us cuddling in bed together, making a gigantic breakfast and taking a long beach walk.

How important is sleep to your productivity with work? 

It’s essential. Between raising two small children, running two companies and everything in-between, sleep gives my body and mind the chance to turn off and regroup so I can be a rockstar the next day.

Are there any items or products that you particularly love in terms of getting your most comfortable night sleep?

I love a great nightie. I love our cashmere robe for pre-sleep chill time. A super soft pillow is a must.

What is your favorite Brooklinen product?
