Jules Miller of The Nue Co. talks about her experience with health and why she decided to take a different approach when it comes to her company. 

Describe your health journey before you started The Nue Co.

I’m not somebody who eats clean 100% of the time and works out five days a week—I am in tune with what makes my body feel good and what gives me mental clarity. In my mid-20s, I developed quite severe IBS and couldn’t pin down what caused me to bloat or what made me sick and lethargic. I started taking an array of supplements to help but instead, they left me feeling worse. It was only after I spoke with my grandfather, who spent the majority of his life as a pharmacist, that I started to look into what was in the vitamins I was taking. I discovered many were full of chemicals, fillers and other unnecessary ingredients. He provided the insight that lead me to develop our whole product philosophy, which is to develop highly absorbable supplements that merge science with the best that nature has to offer. 

What did you see lacking in the health space that you aimed to fill?

We started The Nue Co. in 2017 with a simple goal: we didn’t like what we were seeing in terms of how “wellness” was talked about, and wanted to take a different approach to supplements. When it comes to your body, we believe that you are the expert. You know what you need just by taking note of how you feel. We don’t subscribe to fear tactics, strict rules or a one-pill-fits-all approach. 

What product are you most excited about in The Nue Co. line?

Deeply rooted in the heart of everything we do is our approach to innovation and growth. We invest heavily in research and work with some of the world's leading labs to develop formulas that completely change the status quo, producing supplements that you can feel working in real-time and make a difference in people’s lives. For example, our latest supplement, Nootro-Focus, was in development for close to two years and is our most technically advanced product to date. Our formula contains just six ingredients, five of which are totally natural – the hero ingredient in this blend is a compound called citicoline. We are using a ground-breaking form of citicoline which is 99.8% pure, created using a patented fermentation process. The result is a product that helps you focus immediately while providing long-term cognitive benefits. 

How does sleep affect your work week? Do you use any products to help with sleep?

Anyone who has endured a sleepless night knows that the next day can be a real struggle. A bad night’s sleep also causes an increase in cortisol, the stress hormone, which can cause inflammation in the body when our levels are continually high. To help, I take our Sleep Drops every night without fail. We wanted to develop a product that really worked to help you sleep and most importantly had no negative impact on the following day. We use a blend of valerian root, chamomile, passion flower and catnip - ingredients that work together to gently depress the central nervous system, reduce anxiety and aid relaxation for a good night’s rest. 

What does your wind-down routine look like?

I have a pretty strict evening routine and aim for eight hours a night! It always includes our Sleep Drops and rubbing Magnesium Ease on any areas of tension –– this duo guarantees I will wake up feeling rested and refreshed. I’ll also have a cup of sleepy tea with a few drops of CBD. 

What is the first thing you do when you wake up?

I don’t like being rushed so I’m up at around 6am. I’ll make a coffee, look over my calendar and catch up on emails before heading into the office.

What are you most inspired by moving forward with The Nue Co.?

It’s our community ––  hearing their feedback and having the ability to create real change inspires me. We recently announced a new chapter of The Nue Co. with the launch of our new logo, The Ørt aka ‘The Listener’. We aim to help our community in their journey to health, showing that there’s no need for fear tactics or rules. It’s about stripping things back to the basics. We’ve become more and more dependent on rules and less connected to ourselves. We know how we feel by listening to ourselves and acting out of intuition. We’ll be here to listen and guide - but most of all we are here to celebrate our community's journey without judgement.
