Does Thread Count Matter?
Less than you think. Thread count is one factor, but the weave and the quality of the cotton matter more.
For percale, a thread count between 200 and 400 is the sweet spot. Above that, you're often looking at inflated counts that don't reflect real quality. Our Classic Percale has a 270 thread count.
For sateen, thread counts typically run higher, 300 to 600, because of how the weave is constructed. A 400-thread-count sateen will feel noticeably different from a 400-thread-count percale, even though the number is the same. Our Luxe Sateen has a 480 thread count.
