Backyard Picnic Essentials

You’re gonna want to grab a large comfy blanket for the perfect backyard set up.

Jul 10, 2020

Nothing says summer like enjoying a meal al fresco. We’re all looking for a way to make the most of our time at home and venturing just a few steps out of the door can offer us that bit of escapism we’re looking for. There are plenty of benefits to picnicking at home, like running inside for refills. So, here’s what you’ll need:

The Iconic Basket

What’s more picnic-y than a wicker basket? It’s both picturesque and romantic. Plus, there are so many options. Keep it classic and simple, or go all out with something fully equipped. For something with multipurpose, you can opt for a storage basket or your go-to beach cooler.

A Blanket

You’re gonna want to grab a large comfy blanket with shareable space. Our Hammam Beach Blanket is perfect for outdoor activities. Made of Turkish cotton, it’s super soft and very stylish. Feel to grab some throw pillows on your way out, for optimal lounging.

The Set-Up

To avoid being uncomfortably hot and sweaty, choose picnicking in the late afternoon or evening. This way, you’ll enjoy a cool summer breeze and a sunset if you’re lucky. The ultimate backyard set up includes some sort of stable surface, like a large cutting board or a portable picnic table. A sturdy surface will make it easier to enjoy your picnic meal, layout your snacks, and rest your drinks. Another tip, for the ultimate chill, use frozen glasses or a drink tumbler to keep your drinks colder for longer.

Mood Lighting

Set the mood with a few candles. Plus, flames are helpful for keeping pesky bugs away. Alternatives include tiki torches, string lights, or camping lanterns. Whatever vibe you’re going for, there’s definitely lighting for it.

Some Entertainment

Another benefit of picnicking from home is being able to indulge in the entertainment of your choice. If you’re alone, maybe you want to enjoy a good book with some peace and quiet. Or maybe you want to pull out your portable speaker and play your fave tunes. If you’re enjoying a picnic with someone else, you may both enjoy a board game, a deck of cards, or an outdoor movie (via laptop or tablet).
